Chichen Itza, MEXICO

Chichen Itza, a large pre-Columbian archaeological site built by the Maya civilization located in the northern center of the Yucatán Peninsula, present-day Mexico. Chichen Itza was a major regional center in the northern Maya lowlands from the Late Classic through the Terminal Classic and into the early portion of the Early Postclassic period.

The site exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, from what is called “Mexicanized” and reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico to the Puuc style found among the Puuc Maya of the northern lowlands. The presence of central Mexican styles was once thought to have been representative of direct migration or even conquest from central Mexico, but most contemporary interpretations view the presence of these non-Maya styles more as the result of cultural diffusion.

Chichen is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, not new world.

The difference is,
New wonders of the world really don't have much mystery behind them, for the story behind their construction is well known and the people who built them were well documented. Rather than Ancient Wonders, where the meaning of these sites are not fully understood nor were the people who built them, such as the Great Pyramids of Egypt, Machu Picchu and Petra all fall under the category Ancient World Wonders.

People who say they know the meaning to these sites are only theorizing. There are very few hard facts connected with the Ancient Wonders World in contrast with New Wonders which we everything about.

There is no theory with New Wonders only fact.

There is mostly theory with Ancient wonders and very little fact.

That's the difference, oh and the fact that they much older. By like a few thousand years.
